Where It Began
Welcome to Amazing Wonders Emporium (A-W-E for short)! We are a collectibles retail store in Lacombe, Alberta, Canada specializing in joyful nostalgia and “happy place” creation for people ages zero to 500! We carry everything from Disney and Looney Tunes to Marvel and DC, movie and sports memorabilia, TV favorites, Hot Wheels, comic books, Pokémon, gaming, puzzles and so much more. Our collection of plushes, action figures, animated toys, figurines, mugs, coin banks, salt & pepper shakers and special ornaments bring smiles to faces of all ages. Originating as a storage wars-driven business, ten years has fine-tuned our passion for the collectibles and individual happy place in all of us. Since our grand opening on May 20th, 2023, the store has been enthusiastically received by all who enter and has quickly become a favorite escape for many visitors.
But let's back up for a moment. It all started with a phone call during the wee hours of the morning....those hours when a phone call is the most dreaded thing to wake you from the deepest sleep. Todd had been in a horrific workplace accident. He'd been rushed to the Red Deer emergency room with multiple top-to-bottom fractures and unthinkable trauma to his left hand that severed all of his fingers and half of his thumb. In fact, this was so severe as to alter the entire course of their lives.
A whole lot of recovery time at home led to Todd's fascination with T.V.'s Storage Wars. Five years later, Todd and Ange found themselves in a warehouse LOADED with treasures! An international e-commerce business was seriously cool, but what they soon realized was how much they loved the collectibles side of their venture. And then..........................
WHAM!!!........A PANDEMIC BLINDSIDED THE ENTIRE PLANET!!! What to do, what do to.....
Admidst the uncertainty of world navigation through the murky waters of COVID 19, Todd and Ange traversed their own obstacle course that is this ludicrous life. Inevitably, the day arrived when they had to choose:
a) GO BIG OR b) GO HOME
Guess what happened!!!
